Respect VS. Fear

Respect - The state of being regarded with honor or esteem & willingness to
show consideration or appreciation.
Fear - To be afraid or frightened of & to be uneasy or apprehensive about.

How does this two things get connected?

Respect and Fear is very different from each other nor very similar. When we talk about respect, its about giving high regards to something or to someone and Fear is all about being afraid or scared.

This two applies in anything. For example, why do you follow your parents when they asked you to do something? Some people may say because I’m afraid they’ll ground me or fear that they may get mad and take all those things they gave you. But isn’t it more beautiful to here this, “I did follow them simply because, I Respect them. And not because of being scared of what they are capable to do if I don’t follow them.

Same thing in work. Lets say your the Boss. Are you going to be happy if all your employees are all afraid of you? They do things because of fear you might fire them. How can you be an effective Boss if your subordinates can’t even be at ease when they are talking to you. And what if you’re the employee, would you be more productive if your Boss is like that?

But on the opposite side, lets take it this way. You’re the Respected Boss. Your employees share their ideas on how to be more productive because they feel you can be trusted and you have harmonious working relationship with them. They can tell you their ideas cause they are not afraid. And if You’re the Employee. You will do your best because you are happy doing your job and the people around you, including your Boss.

Respect VS. Fear? Of course, RESPECT wins. Isn’t this more better to hear : “I’m being Respected because I’m not being Feared.
